Cupcake Wars

The following is a story from my new roommate Ashely. Upon arrival here in Honduras, she was quickly greeted with the cultural phenomenon of cat calling. As she was walking by herself down the street a man started calling out to her and getting a little too close. He said something to her that was probably along the lines of how she is the love of his life and maybe a few key English phrases he has learned from t.v. She responded with a quick, "No thanks, cupcake." She is a kindergarten teacher and that is sometimes the way they talk, you know. He looked at her perplexed and repeated the word while looking at his friends. "Cooooopcake?" I like to imagine that he also had his arms expanded in the universal wtf manner. Classic move, Ashley. Educating the men, one man in the street at a time. After sharing with his friends I have no doubt they have even more witty banter to share with us on the road. Yay!
