Field Trips Rock!

Today we went to Westcave Preserve. Preserve means protect y'all. We hiked and went inside a cave. It was a success because we had fun, they actually learned some stuff, everyone had a lunch, and we all made it back to school. Below are some of the particulars of the trip.

This conversation took place while we're walking down a steep hill.
Student: When will we get to the end?
Me: When we get to the bottom.

This conversation took place about halfway through the walk downhill.
Student #1: What time is it?
Me: (Obviously irritated at this question and throwing my hands up) It's hiking time?
Student #2: Good one Ms. Marwitz

Student: (Asking the tour guide) Why do you have that flashlight?
Tour guide: To take care of unruly kids.
I knew I liked that guy!

Here's my favorite one of the day. This conversation took place between a student and our tour guide. This student brought a miner's light. Well, what else do you bring to a cave?
Student: Do you mind if I turn my light on. (Cut to him attaching the band to his head and illuminating the cave)
Tour guide: Um. Sure.
