This is the craziest thing I've heard in a long time. A friend of mine is pregnant and was doing some research. She came across the option of saving the baby's umbilical cord blood for the stem cells. The stem cells can be used to treat all kinds of things from cancer to blood discorders. It's highly likely that the stem cells will match with a family member, should they ever need them. Crazy huh?
